Technologies
The BuZZone product is based on the Bluetooth wireless communication technology meant for communicating data over short distances.
The advantages of the Bluetooth technology are:
Support by many devices
Possibility to connect within a wireless net different kinds of devices from household appliances to computers
Small size and low price of the transmitter
Low power consumption
Simple installment to other devices
Possibility to function out from line-of-sight (in comparison with IR port connection)
Additional information on the Bluetooth technology



Operating systems and platforms
The first version of BuZZone was developed for Windows platforms. The supported operating systems and platforms are:
Windows NT/2000/XP
Pocket PC 2002/2003
The system is planned to be supported by all the Windows mobile platforms which are being used more and more in different devices, namely PDA's (Microsoft Pocket PC, Windows Mobile), smartphones (Microsoft Smartphone), and telephones (Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition).



Mobile Devices
At present the system supports the following devices:
Laptops
PDAs
Many vendors have already started making smarphones on the Windows platform. In the near future the BuZZone system will be expanded on these devices.



Bluetooth Modules and Development Tools
The BuZZone system has been developed using the Bluetooth development tools of the WIDCOMM Corporation:
BTW Development Kit
BTW-CE Development Kit
The WIDCOMM Corporation specializes in producing Bluetooth drivers and development tools for Windows platforms. Most of the Bluetooth modules meant for working under the Windows operating systems use WIDCOMM drivers and communication software (BTW, BTW-CE).
The WIDCOMM drivers work with most types of the Bluetooth modules, including:
Embedded
USB-compatible
Compact Flash Type II
PC Card (PCMCIA)

The BuZZone system is written in C++ using the following development tools:
Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 3.0 / 4.0
Microsoft Windows SDK for Pocket PC 2002 / 2003
Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
Microsoft Windows Platform SDK
